Kingscliff Coach Rhys McDougall Playing in San Diego
The ITF World Senior Championships are currently being played in San Diego.
Rhys McDougall is the Number 1 player for the Australian over 35s team.
Our unseeded men’s team are the Italia Cup (35+) and the Dubler Cup (45+) teams. In the Italia team, Troy Hargreaves was forced to withdraw due to a tendon injury in his racquet hand. His place in the team has been filled by Paul Kleverlaan (from the 40+ team) due to the inability to find a replacement. Last minute replacements are always hard to fine and this in itself is a good argument for teams of four to be selected. Paul will play at number two behind Rhys McDougall with Justin Martin at number three.
On the first day against Canada Rhys lost his singles 6/4, 6/4, but won his doubles partnering Justin Martin 6/1, 6/4.

Urgent message to Kingscliff Tennis Club Members
Meeting regarding running of Club
(date to be set for AGM)
To be held Saturday 11th February 2012 after completion of sat mixed comp (approx 5.00 pm).
(Our membership year expired on 31st January 2012)
URGENT – To all members of the Club
Kingscliff Tennis Club Inc at present is in a sound financial position with good membership but like many small clubs membership is stagnant.
At present the club is run by a small committee, 3 presidents in over 20 years with basically the same committee – most of us have adult children and we joined and took over these responsibilities when they were juniors .
I do think it is time for younger members to take over the responsibility of these jobs.
The alternative is that we close the doors for council to reclaim and run or the club falls in disrepair and is finished which would be a great pity.
ALL POSITIONS AT OUR AGM WILL BE DECLARED VACANT.
Tweed Heads, Kingscliff & Club Banora AGMs
Tweed Heads AGM
Tweed Heads Clubhouse on Monday 13th February commencing at 7.30 pm.
The Kingscliff AGM
Kingscliff Clubhouse on Monday 27th February commencing at 7.00 pm.
The Club Banora AGM
Tuscany Room on Tuesday 6th March commencing at 7.30 pm.
AGMs are held primarily to elect a new committee for the ensuing year.
Also members will be presented with reports from the outgoing committee & have an opportunity to voice their opinion on any matters relating to the administration of their Club.
All committee positions are then declared vacant & members are able to elect a new committee.
All members are encouraged to attend to have a vote in the election of their Committee & show support for their Club.
Another year begins at Kingscliff.
The AGM date is to be held mid-February.
Our application for a State Government Grant has been denied to have our courts repaired and updated.
Discussion on courts will be held at the next meeting.
Hope we can have many of our members in attendance.
